Our new favorite place!

We went to the Please Touch Museum several times over the Christmas break, and, wow! It is amazing! Certainly a Philly treasure that's almost worth staying here for. Tanzen and Makett were enthralled with everything and eagerly took off in different directions. We need to get a membership.
The teacher in me was giddily excited over this place! Among some of it's fabulous features... the Wonderland from Alice in Wonderland, a fairy tale land for toddlers, water works, a children's hospital, shoe store, grocery store, construction zone, bus, park, mechanic shop, McDonalds, gas station, flight room, art room, puppet shows...it's awesome! The areas have costumes the kids can put on and realia they can manipulate. Tanzen and Makett will love it even more in 2 or 3 years.
Michael came with us. He's on the giant piano from the movie Big.

Michael vending Tanny some street fare...

Tanny would have happily pushed Ketty all day...and Ketty would have happily let him!
We were lucky to have our dear friend Katie come. We had a hard time getting Makett out of the Post Office truck, he's rather attached to it!
A piano that's just the right size!

Makett was a little hesitant about the carosel, Tanzen loved it!

Tanzen getting some driving lessons in the child-proof Scion

Ketty whipping up some dinner, while Tanzen threw all the plates on the floor
Brandon giving some pointers on how to milk a cow (he's an expert-- you didn't know?)

Our Christmas Card...

Merriest of Christmases!!!
Our verbs for 2009:
  • brandon: studying, working, training for Kilimanjaro, studying, and daddy-ing!
  • chaci: juggling, chasing, cuddling, chasing, cleaning, chasing, feeding, and loving!
  • tanzen: toddling, babbling, exploring, hugging, drumming, and learning!
  • makett: giggling, walking, bouncing, hiding, climbing, and discovering!

What a blur 2009 has been! Tanzen and Makett definitely keep us busy and entertained! This month marks the half-way point of Brandon's 5 year Radiation Oncology residency...and our time in Philly. Life is wonderful and we've learned a lot this past year!

We love this Christmas season as we reflect on our Savior's birth and give thanks for his life and teachings...and for wonderful family and friends.

Lots of love!!!

Eve's at the Daugherty's!

We are ever grateful to have our wonderful friends as our Phamily (that's a mix of Philly and family, lest you worry I'm losing my spelling skills). Spending Christmas eve and New Year's eve together is becoming a residency tradition, and it was fabulous!

Tanny decided to join in the nativity fun
I love their family tradition on New Year's eve. Everyone writes down something they want to stop doing in the New Year, then burns it to symbolically let it go. Isn't that great?! I love it...they follow up with their kids on how they did with their goals last year.

Digging out!

Luckily for us we were able to borrow a shovel from our neighbors...because we sure needed it! Philadelphia got it's second biggest snow storm in history-- 22.9 inches!

We were snowed in all weekend and it was WONDERFUL!!!!!Tanzen loved the snow, Makett was a little more reluctant...
By Sunday afternoon we needed to get out, so we took the boys for a walk to survey the snow...

It was such a pain to dig out of parking spots that people were saving their spots-- we saw trash cans and kitchen chairs saving spaces all over our block.
Let it snow!

Heavyweight

Anyone who has lifted Tanzen or Makett has deduced that the title of the post must be referring to the ball, not the boy.

Incognito!

Stylin'

A sweet patient of Brandon's knitted these hats for Makett and Tanzen.
At first they were a little hesitant to wear them...

But then Makett got rather attached and started wearing it around the house...
Which inspired Tanzen...
So they're stylin' all the time, pj's and all!
